What we do
AIMS’ mission is simple:
✓ Defend our members interests
✓ Put a stop to anti-industry campaigning
✓ Work with regulatory authorities such as FSA to ensure the smooth running of member's business
We interact with and where necessary lobby government, policy influencers and regulators giving AIMS members a seat at the table where decisions are made about their businesses.
AIMS also provides our members with technical, legal and marketing expertise at the highest level.

History and Structure
The Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS) was established in 2001. Today AIMS has grown into a highly respected trade association, representing the views of over 250 members from the abattoir, cutting plant, meat processing, wholesale and catering butcher sectors across the United Kingdom.
In 2017 AIMS launched our Assured Meat Processing Scheme standard, and in 2018 The National Association of Catering Butchers was incorporated into the AIMS structure.
AIMS in the marketplace
In recent years much scrutiny has been directed at the meat sector, particularly on abattoirs, meat wholesalers and catering butchers. Information from the regulators such as the FSA and local authorities is, on occasions, open to mis-interpretation. We work with our members to ensure clarity and when required, will challenge the powers that be. At AIMS we always champion our members by putting forward the facts and the business case.
AIMS has a board of directors drawn from the abattoir and cutting plant sectors representing both red meat and poultry, catering butchers, Vets and the legal profession. In addition, the association’s Head of Policy, Norman Bagley, is a well-known and highly respected champion for businesses in the red meat, poultry and game sectors.
